Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Honda Fit?
The NHTSA has issued multiple recalls impacting the 2017 Honda Fit covering air bag inflators, side curtain risks, transmission software, ignition coils, driveshafts, ESC software, and fuel pump failures. Specifically, NHTSA records show 15 air bag-related recalls (including inflator rupture and incorrect installation risks), transmission software updates to prevent pulley shaft damage, ignition coil wiring replacements, driveshaft inspections/replacements in certain builds, ESC software updates, and fuel-pump replacements in later model expansions. These recalls can increase the risk of injury or vehicle stall; Nalley Honda will perform required repairs free under the manufacturer program.
How do I check if my 2017 Honda Fit has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Honda and we will check the recall status for free. Visit NHTSA.gov and enter your 17-character VIN, or call Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for reference numbers tied to the recalls listed by the agency. If you prefer, schedule service with Nalley Honda and our service team will verify open campaigns and advise next steps at no charge.
How much does a 2017 Honda Fit recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2017 Honda Fit are free of charge to the vehicle owner. Under federal law, recall remedies required by the manufacturer are performed at no cost when completed at an authorized dealership like Nalley Honda. If you need additional non-recall work, ask about our current service specials and service financing options so you can get service now and pay later.
Can I get my 2017 Honda Fit recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts and factory-correct procedures; the safest route is your local certified Honda dealer. Independent shops cannot always access manufacturer recall remedy parts or the specific software calibrations that Honda requires, so scheduling work at Nalley Honda ensures warranty compliance and correct repair validation. Schedule service with Nalley Honda to get free recall repairs handled by factory-trained technicians using Honda's official tools.
How long does a 2017 Honda Fit recall repair take?
Most recall repairs for the 2017 Honda Fit take between 30 minutes and a few hours, depending on parts availability and the specific campaign. Some air bag inflator or fuel pump remedies may require parts ordering, in which case we will provide an estimated completion date and a courtesy notification when your vehicle is ready. You can schedule appointment at Nalley Honda; we offer loaner options or rental assistance guidance when extended wait times occur.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Honda Fit's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—an unresolved recall can lower resale or trade-in value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Completing recall repairs at Nalley Honda protects your vehicle value, provides documentation of remedy, and reassures buyers and lenders that safety issues have been addressed. To start the process, visit our trade-in page at sell your car online after repairs are completed to maximize offer value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Honda Fit recall?
Some states or inspection stations may flag unresolved safety recalls, and in certain cases unresolved safety defects could affect registration or inspection outcomes. Because recalls often involve safety-critical systems like airbags, fuel delivery, or stability control, getting recalls remedied at Nalley Honda mitigates inspection or insurance complications. We recommend scheduling a free recall check with our service team via schedule service so you can avoid inspection delays; ask our staff about service financing if you need additional repairs.
