What are signs I need a tire replacement?
To tell if your tires need replacing, you can look at your tire tread. The treads are the patterns and indentations that run around your tire. If these grooves have eroded too much (2/32” depth) it means that your tires will not be as effective and require replacement. If you’re like most people and don’t know what a 2/32 of an inch looks like, you can use a penny to help you determine whether you need new tires. Simply place the penny between the grooves with President Lincoln’s head facing downward. If you can still see the top of his head, then it’s probably time for new tires. In addition to the tread depth, you can also keep an eye out for cracks and uneven wear which may also be signals that you’re in need of a tire replacement.
